12,000 Homeless in Columbus

This video shows a mix of people, a mix of circumstance, and mix of feelings and emotions regarding the homeless in Central Ohio. Some do want a better situation, some are content and feel they can maintain perhaps better than others.

Could I challenge each of you to think about who you know that might be able or willing to help. Maybe you have a neighbor, or co-worker who doesn't use the computer; but knit's or crochets. They can still help. Perhaps they could send socks, socks are needed all year long, in all seasons. Wet cold feet are a problem.

  1. The next time I drive back home(Columbus,OH)and I drive over a bridge, I will think of those living underneath it and those I have helped with my hats, scarves, and mittens. I know it's just a small thing, but warmth is such a big thing to someone who is cold and homeless. I thank God for giving me the talent to crochet so that I can help others in my own little way! Thanks for sharing!

  2. If that video doesn't tell the story, nothing does. I know from volunteering myself that woment and children can find help much more easily than the men who live in these conditions. Thank God for each and every one of YOU who help these homeless men. Thank you too for giving without judging. It's easy to love the loveable...it's equally important to love those who aren't...in fact, maybe it's more important. Thank you again.

  3. I got your comment on my blog. I read every post on each of your blogs through my Google Reader subscription service. That means that I don't actually stop by the blogs all that often, so I won't show up on your counters. But I do keep up with what is going on.

I'm still struggling through the summer, but the fall is coming and I will hopefully have more time and energy to comment and help then. Take care.

  4. There is a tent city that I see quite often coming home down the freeway. I can never remember the exact spot, but I see it of I70 west all the time. Anyone know if these people are getting help now that it is freezing cold? Or how many there are? I wouldn't mind taking supplies like food, blankets, hats, gloves...so on out there, but just putting feelers out to see if any body knows anything about this area. Thanks for any help:)
