Scarves From Illinois Help Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Kathy S from Illinois for this thoughtful donation of crocheted scarves.  Looks like Kathy's been busy making an even dozen scarves!  These small scarves will be ideal for the young ones.  Most of the colors are more suited for little girls, but there are also some that will work for the little guys as well.

Kathy's scarves are super soft and I'm sure the kiddo's that wrap these around their necks will be happy and warm!  Kathy's donation takes our number of donated scarves to just about 1/3 of the way there.  YIPPEE, love to see the numbers grow.

Many thanks Kathy and please keep up the good work.

**The counts on our progress bars are current. All donations regardless of size and number are valued. All donations are appreciated. The Power of One is awesome, and when we work together The Power of One becomes The Power of Many.

  1. I like the simple pattern - nothing fussy, just warm. I wonder if it takes more than one skein to make them.

    1. I would say no on the amount of yarn, as I've made larger scarves (adult size) with one skein. Thanks for the visit Karla. Was going to type more but see our friend Sandie did below about size of scarf and amount of yarn.

    2. Karla, for reference, I just finished a 72" scarf using Premier Everyday yarn and an H hook. I used the pattern Bev's Women's Conference Scarf. I worked for 144 rows. It took all of two skeins - 8 ounces, 406 yards. That is without adding a border around it. That said, depending on your tension, hook used, pattern etc, it could be more or less yarn.

  2. Nice scarves. Like Karla I also like simple patterns that keep one warm. Depending on yarn and how wide you make them, a 7 oz skein could do a scarf. I usually like to have more on hand though as I try to get them to the 72" length.

  3. Pretty scarves Kathy S. I knit and I only use one skein of yarn to make a scarf.
