Wanted to post pictures of these plastic type mailers. Been awhile since we've talked about packages and postage costs. Our good friend Sandie P from Louisiana used these a good deal of the time. Now, depending on what you're sending...either here to Bridge and Beyond or elsewhere, this might be a good option for you. Yes you have to buy these vs using a box you might already have at the house. However, it might be cheaper in the long run because these are extremely light weight and therefore you're paying less to ship it. Additionally, they are water proof.
The other thing to consider is the cost of postage when you send an item or two at a time, (like when you finish it) vs saving and sending a lot in one large box. It all depends on where you are, and the weight of what you're sending. Just thought it worth mentioning in case it helps any of you.

Likewise note we've definitely reached our goal for rain poncho's. Rain ponchos's serve many purposes so we will probably still need some....down the line, but not for awhile.

I need to look around for those bags. Where is a good place to get them? Amazon? Postage is so much money. I would love to send more items, but that postage is just awful.
ReplyDeleteI've been using these envelopes for a long time and have been very pleased with them. I get them on Ebay. They come in different sizes. I have even shipped large afghans in the largest size. They are called poly mailers. I just usually search for mailing envelopes. I keep them on hand and, in fact, I need to order some more. I imagine you can get them at office supply shops as well, but I don't really know. They are excellent for sending crochet and knitted items. However, if you're mailing something that is breakable or can't be bent, this might not be the best choice.

ReplyDeleteFinally making some time to stop by and comment! I thought I'd start with this post since it's my biggest barrier to sending something your way. My Baba has a bunch of crocheted afghans that she wants me to donate to the local women's shelter which I am going to do, but I thought of trying to send one your way. I think the cost to do that might be atrocious though. Sigh. If nothing else I will get around to packaging up some wool socks and sending them your way by the end of 2016!
