Well, since it's the weekend...even though it's the last day of the weekend, it seemed a good way to begin getting caught up was to share this cute t-shirt and saying with you all. Spotted it some time back on Facebook it made me chuckle. Most of you know I really enjoy wine, so a shirt combining both wine and crocheting and or knitting.........well, just couldn't resist. I have to say I enjoy seeing these various shirts and saying that I share with you, but I've never purchased one, nor have I seen anyone wearing one.
Have you?
Sorry it's been a week since I've posted folks. Life has gotten a bit busier than normal. I do still work, but then you all probably know that. What's been the added business of late is getting involved in a local community effort to save our 911. Our city manager and council want to outsource it to save money; but many of us in the community feels it's super important not to do that. We feel saving lives is more important than trimming costs. Our particularly safety services has been rated as one of the top 8 in the country and the city they want to outsource to has dispatch times much much slower. At a minimum 4 x slower. Having been in the medical field (and I know many of you are), I know how important time is in an emergency. So, we've been having meetings to explain to the public the downside of this, walking door to door passing out flyers and obtaining signatures.
The plus side of things, with all the walking to pass out flyers etc, I'm getting LOTS of steps in. I've posted before about how important getting steps is (I wear a fitbit) to help with my arthritis and to reduce cholesterol...so things in that department are doing well.
Enjoy the funny, hope you're all doing well and enjoying August........can't believe how fast the summer has gone. People are talking about football (groan), and buying back to school clothes and supplies already. Time sure goes fast.

Thanks Betty, it's getting a bit dicey. The firemen have come out in support of our group and donated $$, while the chief is following the company line of the city manager. The chief works at the pleasure of the city manager, so we obviously aren't getting his honest answer when he says he supports the outsourcing.
DeleteThat is horrible to outsource something important all because of money. It usually never works well and so glad to hear what you have been doing. The T-shirt is funny. Today my pain is beyond nasty and walking right now would be a no-no since I have Ehlers-Danlos. I don't swell but the pain is the same as Rheumatoid arthritis. I am going to try to make a card...Hopefully I can.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the pain level Birgit. You're so right on point about the importance of saving 911.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to believe that they want 911 to be outsourced. I think it needs to stay in your city . Good luck with everything. It is good you are getting in lots of steps each day. Be careful in the heat. T-shirt is cute.
ReplyDeleteI love all of these t-shirts you hav e been posting lately. I would love to get each and every one of them but they just don't come in my size. (one size short!). Maybe that will get me moving on my weight loss plan. How is your walking going Sandy?
