Spotted this awhile back on Facebook. I didn't see a story with it to know when or where this sign was posted, but..........it made me smile. Wouldn't it be nice if we saw lots of signs like this outside of business...restaurants specifically.
Do you know an owner or manager of a fast food restaurant or any restaurant that you could share this with? If so, please please do.

Nice idea and a sweet thought. Hopefully alot of places would do this. I think it is hard for a person to ask for a freebie, and it is easier to go through the dumpster and find your own. These people may not have anything left but their pride. If we could only make people realize that a helping hand from a friend is not begging and that there are people out there who really want to help and this person obviously does. There are also places that put their actual food products in a separate box in the dumpster so it is not mixed in with the actual gabage. Very nice idea. and I hope it catches on with the giver and the receiver. GOD BLESS THE HOMELESS marj ion minnesota
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that Marj, thanks for adding that piece of information, much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteMany years ago I worked at a fast food restaurnant and was shocked by the food that was just tossed out. I wish it could have been given away.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean Sue, and why couldn't it be, sometimes we regulate too much...and loose common sense. That type of thing seems to be even worse nowdays.
DeleteThat is true Sue. They can only keep it for a certain length of time and then it cant be sold to the public. much of it is still very edible. That is why it can be placed in the garbage bins in separate areas for those who care to go looking for it, and many people do.It is called learning to play the game, Not the best, but if you are hungry I am sure it is wonderful. GOD BLESS THE HOMELESS. marj in minnesota
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame they can't have a policy that says after...x o'clock unused food will be placed here, all not collected by x o'clock will be discarded. Then folks wouldn't have to pull food after the dumpsters.
DeleteWhat a wonderful note and hopeful post!!! I've just shared your article on Twitter.
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed how many donations you've got so far - good job!!!
Thank you for the visit and supportive comment, as well as the share. We reach a lot of people, even though our donations are down a bit. Hope to see you here often Cat away
DeleteI agree, it probably is hard for most to ask for a free meal. But the owner of this place might have made it a little easier. It is a most welcoming sign.
