Crocheted Cotton Washcloths always a Hit

Thank you Diana K for this colorful collection of crocheted cotton washcloths.  Crocheted and knitted cotton washcloths are used in many ways.  They're used when folks come in from the street to obtain lodging at the various shelters, they're used in welcome home packs when folks transition from shelter to permanent living arrangements (both as washcloths and as dishcloths), they're used by the folks living in the elements under the bridges.  Donated cotton washcloths are always so well received.

Looking back to this date, Sept 18th, 2013 we had donated 536 cotton washcloths.  We're well behind last years mark by 298 cotton washcloths.  Cotton washcloths are quick items to make if time is tight; though sometime back I did ask if you were debating between a cotton cloth and something that would keep someone warm to lean towards making something warm.  I would like to increase our numbers of cloths, but also still feel keeping someone warm is the more important thing to do....however, we could perhaps increase our number of cloths without necessarily topping last years numbers in an effort not to sacrifice warm items.  

Temperatures have truly plummeted here in central Ohio.  We're much colder, much sooner then normal.  Some night temperatures have already dipped below 50, which has me thinking our first frost is not far away.  Sadly I saw my first tree with fall color the other day...a site which always saddens me; as I know the ice, sleet, and freezing temps are closing in on us.  Parts of the country have already had early snows.  I do hope that doesn't mean we're going to have another winter like last year; but am not feeling very hopeful in that direction ...given recent weather predications.
