Thank you, Thank you Sue F for this thoughtful donation and your ongoing wonderful support of Ohio's cold and homeless. Sue has a real potpourri of goodies here for those in need. Sue has knitted mittens (she me dancing...you know how excited I get when we get mittens!), hats, and cotton washcloths. Please click to enlarge (though I tried to make this picture larger then normal) to check out the details...she's knitted a washcloth with a cool cool pocket where a bar of soap and more will fit. What a fabulous idea!
Sue's also included lots of personal care items.........these are always needed, summer, winter, spring and fall by all the shelters as well as those living on streets that we care for.
Many thanks Sue, and please keep up the good work!

What a super donation Sue! Thank you SO MUCH! Love those mittens especially as I love to make mittens myself! I really like the striped ones! Love the idea of a pocket in the wash cloth although I don't know how you did it. Perhaps you could share your pattern?? Thanks so much for using your time and talent to help those less fortunate! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI was pretty proud of myself when I came up w/the idea for the pockets. :) Just wish I had included a loop at the top so they could be hung on a hook to dry or so it would be easier to get use as a carrier for the personal hygiene items.
ReplyDeleteI made basic dishcloth pattern where you start w/five stitches and add one at each row, then decrease. When I got to the place where I could bind off for a washcloth, I just started increasing again until I had a "tail" that could fold up for a pocket. Once that seemed big enough, I bound off and left a long tail to sew all the way around. I also sewed down about an inch in each side of the pocket---seems like it held the items better that way.
Awesome and thanks Sue for explaining how you accomplished it. I LOVE the idea!
ReplyDeleteVery nice donation Sue! What a wonderful idea for the washcloth! Thank you for letting us know how you did the pocket. I will have to try that out myself.
