As squares were coming in, being separated for storing until use; some ghans were being designed. I like to do several at one time generally speaking ...you know while I've got squares thrown around and the brain is in gear. Then I bag and label them and after completing a few, design more. This was designed about 10 days before Christmas, actually I considered whether or not I might be able to get it done once I completed the one I was working on....not realistic...so then I thought...behind again........NOPE...I left it bagged and tagged and will leave it in que...I'm ahead right? lol...for Christmas of 2012 instead of 2011. Unless at some point I snatch a square or two from here that I need for another ghan...will see how that goes. I like the look of this, but it will require quite a bit of work to fit the different sizes together.........

One nice thing (says the person not doing the joining) about different sized squares is that the yarn used to get them consistent size is often a really nice touch of cohesiveness to the variety of colors as well. I'm putting together a lapghan right now of a variety of very different sized squares, so I may need reminded of this myself - just trying to be helpful-lol!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your logic psmflowerlady, though it is a more tedious process so I try not to do different sized ones in a row. I need to flip back and forth between squares that are the same sizes and those that aren't when assembling. also goes a bit quicker that way, as the ones with different sizes definitely take longer to put together.
ReplyDeleteSandy, you are brave and talented to take this on! The different sized squares would drive me crazy. Guess I'm more obsessive-compulsive than I thought.
