In the process of obtaining more information, but looks like there's a family shelter in need of assistance, so keep making hats, scarves, mittens, slippers suitable for men, women, and children. I think we can reach out to another group. Details soon.
We're almost half way through the month of July, who's focus is squares. For those that like to know what's up next...August focus will be Mens Hats. Remember to check the working calendar in the tab across the top of the blog for regular updates. Hats for men need to be large and warm, as many of them live outdoors in the elements and only get a bed at a shelter here and there.

ReplyDeleteI was really looking forward to making some washcloths for Bridge and Beyond this month but that job my husband had didn't work out. They had a big fire in the plant and they "temporarily" laid off all the new employees until they could get all the machines working again. A few weeks later they still weren't letting any of the people come back so my husband found another job. The new job only pays bi-weekly and he's only received one check so far (which only paid him for 1 shift), so needless to say our money situation has not yet improved to the point that I can go out and buy some cotton yarn to make washcloths and then also pay to pack and ship the stuff to you. I promise I'll eventually come up with the time/money to donate some things to your wonderful charity, our financial slump cannot last for the rest of our lives- I hope!
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime (since I don't have the money to ship anything to you) I'll knit up a few things for my little one who's due in February with some of the yarn from my stash. (S)he will be born in February and I've got to make a few tiny hats and booties to keep him/her warm! But I feel kind of guilty doing that when I could be knitting for charity instead.
I have several (adult size) hats sitting in a drawer that I made and never used so whenever I get the opportunity to make a few things for Bridge and Beyond I will include some of those to make up for lost time a bit!
Welcome, Suzann to this wonderful organization! We are so glad to have you with us! Your work looks great and I am sure some needy folks will be so glad you took the time to think of them! Keep your needles flying!
