This reddish brown ghan has both knitted and crocheted squares and rectangles of various sizes from lots of people. I know several I've had on hand for quite a while (before Give a Square), and therefore don't know whom several are from (remember the groups that sent items when they disbanded); but the more recent contributions come from Joy, RoseMarie, Sarah S, Judy, Liz (minnisoda on the Ville), and James. If you see any of your squares above and I've missed naming you, please sign out. As I've mentioned before it's quite difficult to keep track of who sent what squares; though I do remember quite a few.
I really like this color combo, though in truth probably isn't one I would have thought of before seeing the squares. With the variety of sizing, I'll do lots of piecing this one together. At the moment, I'm thinking of joining it with a burgundy. Stay tuned for updates on the progress of this and previously posted designed ghans, as well as more designs coming from your thoughtful donations. Together, we're warming those folks at Faith Mission, one stitch, one square, and one ghan at a time.
Thank You!

Do you happen to know what sort of focus you'll be having in the upcoming months? (Like this month is the Rainbow Project and Give a Square)? I enjoy trying to make stuff for the focus projects but knowing about them ahead of time would help a lot in getting the items done and sent in for the month they're the focus of. Even a one month head's up would be awesome. (I have some kids' mittens to send, but the box won't be full and ready to send until the end of January - and while I know items can be used year around, it'd be fun to be able to have a full box all ready to go.)
ReplyDeleteIf you don't plan that far ahead, no worries! :-) Like I say, I know items can be used no matter when they arrive.
Yes I do plan a focus for February James, thanks for asking it will be slippers. Knitted or crocheted slippers any color, though probably best to stay away from white for men, women, and children...so all sizes.
ReplyDeleteI'll be adding that to the next couple of posts too, thanks for the reminder that the months almost past us by. Too fast!
Awesome; thank you! Having a little reminder available in the sidebar might be a good idea. And I'm glad it's slippers - I have been wanting to dig out a super-easy pattern I used to make all the time. Looks like it's a good time to do so!
ReplyDeleteHey James, when you dig out your slipper pattern could you zap it this direction? I'll add it to the top tabs.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Sandy
This is essentially the pattern I use: it's knit flat and seamed, which makes it good for folks who don't like to (or know how yet) to knit in the round.

Looks like a nice pattern James, Thanks I'll get something appropriate posted and add the link.

Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Foxeni, I really enjoy being creative with these squares and rectangles that come from such good folks.
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful afghan! I love seeing these come together from so many knitters and crocheters around the world.
