Our good friend Sandie teaches crochet and often needs to make a little of this and that to demonstrate a stitch, a shape, a technique. I'm going to use some of this donation along with some odds and ends from my daughter, and squares from Alma to put together a ghan or two that I hope will work out appropriately for The Pine Street Project. No formulated plan yet, need to ruminate a bit; but will keep you all posted.
Thanks Sandie for the donations of yarn as well.
And, PLEASE take a minute register and vote to help homeless financially, with housing etc; even if you personally don't have the means to write a check.

To give credit where credit is due, a couple of those squares were made by my daughter Kate, and the yarn was donated to me by two different people. One was a friend of Carolyn Toups, the lady who passed away. The wool yarn was included with hats and prayer cloths donated to troops. My apologies at not remembering who it was who sent it. I'm glad all my odds and ends will be used. You always have such creative ideas. I can't wait to see what you come up with. I am always amazed.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandy, i am from the Philippines and i want to learn knitting and when i tried to look for the materials here, we don't have the stick to use for knitting, of course we have the yarn. I bought the yarn and i used chopsticks instead of that stick for knitting. Now, my problem is, i always ended up with a very tight knitts..waaaaa and it was not the same size from the beginning to end because of the chopstick. i wish i can find ways on how to work on chopsticks properly...
ReplyDeleteThe socks here were so cute...i wish i can do that someday hehe.
Sandie, am working on a ghan right now, hope to have it finished in the next couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteKat, email me at sandycrochet@gmail.com your address and I'll send you some knitting needles.
Lots of different sizes, and colors here. Will be fun to see how it all comes together.

You've stopped collecting squares now, right? We are to watch for the announcement when you will be starting up again?
ReplyDeleteRight Sandie, I want to get a couple of more ghans put together then will send out the call for more. thanks
ReplyDeleteI love the inventiveness of using the "hashi" (Chopsticks) for knitting needles. Now there is a real needlewoman. I just can't get the drift of a scarf -- but am fine on a hat, so guess I"ll stick to what I can do.
ReplyDeleteHappy springtime -- Sandie in FL
Can'timagine using chop sticks to knit with, my skills aren't that good.
