Hats!!! Stella is modeling one of the 9 hats Scarlet made. She choose the pretty pinkish red one...Stella's such a ham! Hats #106-107-108-109-110-111-112-113-114. Many thanks Scarlet for your continued support and lovely items to warm the cold homeless living under the bridge.
Gloria sent scarfs #45 & 46. I really like the blue mutli-colored one. I'm not familiar with the stitch you used Gloria...very interesting, what is it? That yarn was really soft too, what did you use? Thank you sooooooooo much. The support so many of you are showing truly touches my heart.
Scarlet sent 3 scarfs #47-48-49. I'll add these (if Stella will give them up!) to the ladies donation for the clinic. I'm particularly fond of the purple and orange one. I love the colors. Wanted to show the red, white, and blue neck warmer. Fits me... and felt pretty good around my neck right after getting in from the cold, that too will go to the ladies next donation. Can you see the interesting buttons?
The temperature when I woke up this am was -12. The warmest it got all day was 8 in the sun. I ask that you join in keeping these folks in your thoughts and prayers to make it through these conditions.
Why are these items going to the ladies center and not to the bridge people?
ReplyDeleteI did not know there were other areas either. I thought all the donations went to the homeless people under the bridge as well. I am confused now. Sandy could you explain?
ReplyDeleteSorry for the confusion ladies. There is no ladies center. In some of the posts, I've mentioned the clinic. There's a free clinic in the same depressed area as the bridge that cares for homeless and those in need in that local. Rae, the lady that takes the food and donated items to the men under the bridge also volunteers at the free clinic. The clinic tends to see women, so the items that are more geared to women (either by color, size, or design), along with a few items that are well suited for children/teens can be distributed there. The sad thing is, police have busted up some of the areas where the homeless have collected up; therefore some need to keep on the move so to speak. So, while some do stay there under that particular bridge; others have to float in and out and change locations.

ReplyDeleteNice neck warmer. I made something similar from a pattern I purchased. It is called a cowl. Can you use cowls for the bridge folks?
ReplyDeleteLOL, my goodness my hair was short back then. Sandie, cowl's would work, as long as it's obvious for the person as to how to wear it. We in the craft community sometimes know things because of patterns that other folks might not be up to speed on.
ReplyDeleteThis one is like a scarf with the ends joined together. You just pull it over your head and depending on size of person, you can use it on the head and neck, or just settle around neck. I'll have to pull it out to look at it again.
ReplyDeleteYou can wear them on your head too? I never thought about that. Quess they would need to be real stretchy to accomplish all that.
