Socks Rock!

Thank you Tara B for your ongoing delivery of socks!  Tara has set up a recurring order through Amazon to have socks delivered here  at Bridge and Beyond.  I've said it before, but will say it again.  I think she's brilliant.  She says herself time, and postage.

Socks are needed all year long, even in warm weather.  While we've been having warmer weather, we're currently in another cold snap, as well as wet snap.  We're over our goal which is very exciting, as we're not quite to the half way point in the year...but that doesn't lessen the need for warm dry socks.  When you're living out in the elements being able to change into dry warm socks is a wonderful thing.  AND even those folks sleeping at night in the shelters, still are outside during the day.  Most shelters require people to leave during the day, so the chances they may get caught in the rain is substantial.

Many thanks Tara for your on going support.  Please keep up the good work and know how much you and your donations are appreciated.

Knitting and Donating to the Homeless

Thank you Laura E for your continued support of Bridge and Beyond.  Laura is constantly working on donations for us.  She knits and fills and box and ships, and then she starts the process all over again.  Scroll back just a few posts and you'll see her other very recent donation.  Always busy working for us, many many thanks!!

Laura has included personal care items, socks, hats and scarves (see some are sets and tied together), and cotton washcloths.   Extra thanks for tagging your hats with size, Laura.  It really saves time for the volunteers at the shelters.

I love the pretty turquoise cotton cloths.  So fresh and springy looking and we need some of that.  It's been a long year for all of us, so having spring, colors, flowers etc help brighten us all.

As always, please keep up the good work, Laura and know what a difference you make in the lives of many in need.

Crocheting in Louisiana Helps Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Sandie P for this generous donation of crocheted goodies!  Sandie's included cotton washcloths (always a hit), and a cowl/neckwarmer, hat, and scarves.  I'm lusting after the two toned gray scarf!!  I love cable effect in the middle of the scarf.  I assume???  It's made with front and or back post DC?  And if you haven't already, do click to enlarge the picture so you can see the details/texture I'm referring to.  Also, the scarf on the far right, the gray goldish tan mix.  I don't know what stitch that is, but it's yummy texture.

Sandie P from Louisiana has been a very very long time supporter of Bridge and Beyond and Ohio's Homeless.  We've known each other for years now through charitable work with yarn.  Thank you for all the support and your skilled hands through the years Sandie.

Look how we're doing folks with our goals.  With the last couple of donations we're over 50% on our hat goal...58% to be exact.  AND we're almost at 50% for our scarf goal at 46%.  Hope you're as excited by these numbers as I cam.

Please keep up the good work and know what a difference you make.

High School Friend Crochets and Donates

Woot Woot!  Look at this wonderful donation of crocheted goodies!  Hats, scarves, and cotton washcloths galore.  This donation comes from Joy D, a friend from my school days.  We went to Junior High and High School together.  When I was a Candy Striper I often worked with her Mother at the hospital.  Memories abound.

As always click to enlarge the picture to see details.  Joy has crocheted lots of hats in a good variety of sizes.  Most of the hats have a matching scarf to make a nice set. LOVE these nice dark colors that won't show the dirt and can work well for either women or men.

And, she's also included cotton washcloths which are always a hit as they have multiple purposes

Yes Spring has hit Ohio; but........most of this past week we had frost over night, as it's still getting down below freezing some nights.

And, there was this.

Burr!!  That's the fence between our back yard and our neighbors, notice you can barely see through the fence.  It snowed at night and must have been blowing sideways quite a bit to create that.  Notice all my plants along the fence row are covered with snow.  Argh, go away winter.  Luckily it didn't last; but ...we're not warm enough everyday that items aren't needed.

Many thanks Joy, and please keep up the good work.

Truly something for everyone with this donation.  Many thanks for tagging the hats with size, it helps the volunteers at the shelters get items to the right people quicker.

As always, remember you can enlarge the picture to see details, colors, texture by clicking on the pictures on this blog, Bridge and Beyond.

Knitting and Crocheting and More to Aid The Homeless

Thank you Sarah S for this thoughtful donation of knitted and crocheted goodies for our homeless friends.  Sarah has been busy, as you can see with knitted wonderful soft and warm hats, and crocheting cotton washcloths.

Sarah has also included rain poncho's in her donation.  The orange pouches are rain poncho's.  This is a great idea!  Additionally she's added two large packages of socks.  We're thrilled to have reached beyond our goal for socks with more coming in.  Warm dry feet is the end result that many will benefit from.  Even though we've reached our goal, I'm happy to see more coming in.  Our sock donations over the last couple of years have diminished, thus the lower goal...so with reaching and surpassing that goal, we'll be able to raise our goal for next year.

Many thanks for your generous donation Sarah, please keep up the good work.  And extra thanks for tagging your hats with size, really helps the volunteers at the shelters.  And I like to ask how you made you hats, there's double and so nice and warm.  Are they made like a tube somehow?

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
