Scarf

crocheted scarf
Finally, I got my blue and green scarf done. It's quite large, color blocks of 15 rows of each color section, 7 color sections and measures 10.5 inches wide and is 80 inches long (6 ft 6 inches). Little larger than I usually make, but wanted something for a larger man...and or something that could wrapped around neck and chest for warmth.

We've had a fair amount of sunshine of late, but still are getting very cool temperatures at night. Dipped below 40 again last night so warm items are still needed. We still have heavy blankets on our bed, and most days the windows are closed.

This makes scarf #98 (just 2 shy of our original goal of 100). Please keep them coming the need hasn't gone away yet weather wise...though fingers crossed I do think we're getting close. When that happens we'll store and be ready for when the weather turns rather than having to play catch up.

As always many many thanks for all who've helped with knitting and crocheting, all who've helped by placing blog notices and our blog badge to spread the word, all who've sent money to purchase socks. It is truly amazing what we can do together.

HUGS

**royal blue and hunter green, not sure the green shows up that way in the picture. This is the first thing I've actually been able to finish since Mom passed, had some issues with that; but am feeling better about that now

Very Special Scarves!!!

crocheeted scarves
I'm posting pictures of 4 scarves that might have you thinking of St. Patty's Day...they're beautiful and green which makes me think of lush green grass that needs to be mowed (maybe I'll do that tomorrow, just didn't feel like it today). These 4 scarves are donated by our Dear Sandie. PLEASE visit her page and offer a special thanks. All donations are wonderful, all are appreciated by these seem even more special to me. A friend of Sandie's, Carolyn Toups recently passed and left yarn for Sandie. It is this yarn she used to make these scarves. How special is that. A wonderful way to honor and remember this lady through Sandie's generous crochet hook.

People are AWESOME...I say that a considerable amount and really believe it. If only we could hear more about how awesome and caring people are on the 6:00 news instead of all the negative stuff.

My deepest condolences for the loss of your friend, Sandie AND my sincere Thanks for turning a sad event into a meaningful positive one with remembering your friend with this donation.

Our goal 100..........3 to go (though don't stop making them, love to go beyond that)

Close to below freezing last night!

Spring is here in central Ohio; but.......it's so unpredictable. Days can be warm, though it's been cool for about a week again. Rain again today, but.. last night we were only a few degrees above freezing, so these latest donations are very much appreciated.

Thanks and HUGS to Sandie for Scarf #93 (100 was our goal, we're getting close)
crocheted scarf
As always such nice work. I love the color combination!

Thanks and HUGS to Ghost for hat #176 (our goal was 200...inching our way there).
crocheted hat
I LOVE the neat border, look how much the reddish strip adds to the look! Bravo Ghost.

I'm working on (not as much as I should) a scarf. Having trouble doing it.

Summer is approaching, a time when many of us find it harder to knit or crochet. Yarn sticks to sweaty fingers; so could I ask...if you've not (and I know many of you have) added our badge to your blog would you please do it now? I believe that will help spread more awareness and perhaps get us a few more helping hands. Those in cooler climates might still knit and crochet, or those who are able to have the a.c. on alot.

Thanks for all you've done, you are all FABULOUS!

To add our badge to your blog:
1-right click and save to your computer
2-add widget to your blog
3-add url where indicated which is: http://homelessbridge.blogspot.com/
4-click ok or save

Wala...you've done it.

????Does anyone know how to obtain code for it? For our friends without a blogspot and or someone who prefers not to add widgets. I don't know, but would love to learn.

Spreading the word!

Hope you all have seen my new widget here, BlogUpp...look on the right side of my blog. Click on one or both sides of the widget, right where you see a neat thumbnail of someone's blog. It's very cool. I just got this blog signed up with this new social networking yesterday. This morning I visited 6 blogs through it. Thought it would be a nice way to spread the good work we're doing; and maybe get more helping hands with our project.

If you'd like to spread the word of your blog, PLEASE click on the blue binder portion of the widget, and or go to BlogUpp.com. It's quick and easy, no registration is necessary and even someone without techy savy skills can do this in minutes.

The business of helping the homeless is never ending, and never has enough helping hands. It's been awhile since I've had time to actively seek more helpers, so thought I'd give this a try.

I'm working on a green and blue man sized scarf and hope to have it finished soon. I'll be passing off another round of beautiful donated items, so please keep your crochet hooks and knitting needles busy.

***If you've missed seeing the pictures of the last couple of wonderful donations, PLEASE scroll back

Thanks ladies for all the hard work, you're awesome!

Look at these colors!

crocheted scarves
Another fabulous box delivered 2 days ago. Look at these colors, so nice! Scarves #86-87-88-89-90-91 and #92. All 7 of these scarves crocheted by Beth (crochet princess). They will be perfect for those folks at the clinic, some teens and younger children. I'll be seeing SIL tomorrow in order to pass these along.

Thanks so much Beth! Someone ask a few weeks ago if we would be continuing now that the weather is finally breaking. The answer YES. Some of our nights are still cool, so the need probably will continue for a short while longer. Then either Rae or I will store them so that when the weather breaks again in the fall, we'll be ready. Rather than having people have to wait until we get our fingers and needles flying again.

Look where we are folks with our goals:
Hats 200-175 ONLY 25 hats to meet goal
Scarfs 100-92 ONLY 8 to meet goal
Mittens 100-41 Need 59 pairs to meet our goal

We will happily accept items beyond our goals.

As always my deepest appreciation for all you've all done! Keep up the good work.

We're still having freezing temperatures at night; though are looking forward to that coming to an end. PLEASE keep knitting and crocheting. A Special Blessing

I am terribly behind, behind in communicating to you how much good we've done, where we stand with our goals, and who's heartfelt beautiful donations have arrived.

My life has been overly full with time at the hospital with Mom, who transferred yesterday to Hospice Care, as her time seems to be near.

I do want to Thank you, packages have arrived from Jenny in Scotland (Wren on Rav.) Mzundercover, and June. I do hope to get things opened and photographed for you all to see.

Happy Easter to all

Unknown Person in Seattle Washington

knitted mittens, hat, gator, scarf
Wayyyyyyyyyy behind posting updates and pictures and adjusting our numbers folks. I keep trying.

Some wonderfully nice soul from Seattle Washington sent 4 pair of socks, a blue vest/neck warmer combo garmet (which I really really like and think is something I'll put on my list of things to make), pair of brown mittens, an adorable pink hat for some lucky little girl, a beautiful brown and blue hat, and a blue and burgundy scarf
I don't know if the person just forgot to put their name in, or if they wanted to be nameless. Always makes me uncomfortable not to be able to thank someone. Even if they don't want their name here, I would love to send email letting them know their package arrived and is appreciated. So..........if anyone knows who this person is, please sing out. Items are knitted, so we're in search of a knitter from the state of Washington.

Barbara.......hugs for sending the flannel shirts along with your hat, what a wonderful donation. Thanks so much for caring and helping us with this project. So sorry it took me so long to get this posted.

SOCK it to me ....AND!!!

socks

40 pairs of feet will be warmer and dryer thanks to that load of socks you see in the picture. Finally got out a week ago and shopped and got more socks. Sorry for the delay in getting picture taken, edited and posted. Thanks going out to Bill (a multiple friend from The UK), Jenny (from Scotland I know from Ravelry), and Cowgirl (Chris from Multiple).

I was able to buy in bulk and got 4 packages of 10 pairs each. I was sooooooooo excited and hope you share my excitement

knitted hats and scarf

And more wonderful handmade goodies. Another beautiful scarf all the way from Scotland from Jenny Wren (on Rav) #80, and hats (161 &162) from Sandie. Beautiful work from both of these special ladies.

Look how close we're getting to our scarf goal! Party time soon. lol.

Many thanks for all the wonderful support of this ongoing cause. Don't stop knitting and crocheting, please.........keep those fingers nimble.
--------
On a person note, many thanks to all who've offered prayers and good wishes from my mother, I posted another update about the hospital situation here.

And for a diversion while waiting on calls from the hospital I made a long over due post with some cool pics from our last trip, was nice to think of better times while I was posting it and hope you all take a minute to visit and comment.

I doth my hat!

crocheted hats
Once again 2 great hats to keep heads warm from Sandie. Thanks so much for your continued support of this worthy cause. It is soooooooooo appreciated. Hats #159 & 160.. Both hats are crochet, the darker blue is neat bulky yarn.

Our counters keep moving along which is great. Though we are having some sun during daylight hours, it still was only in the 20's last night. Very cold indeed for folks living outside in the elements. Cold too for folks living indoors with no heat; like so many who make their way to the free clinic.

Let's keep these hats, scarfs, and mittens coming.

3 Hats and a Scarf

crocheted hats and scarves
Lol, 3 hats and a scarf sounds like the title of a movie (3 men and a baby). It's taken me several days to get back to this, sorry for th delay.

Once again wonderful work from our Sandie. 3 hats (#156-157-159) of varying sizes which is great, and a scarf (79(. If you saw her post she mentioned how the color in the picture was off. I think my picture is also. She couldn't figure out why they appear blue, perhaps a little less so in my pictures...but still not true to color. These are purple, a very nice purple.

As always Sandie thanks for your hard work and continued support of this project. I'm starting another bag with this donation, as I've passed on the previous one.

We made it to about 3/4th of our scarf and our hat goal, and about 1/3 towards our mitten goal. We've had a few nice days here which is probably given some nice relief to these folks so in need, however temps dropped again last night and we're expecting another round of colder temps accompanied by rain. So please keep your hooks and needle flying towards our goal of keeping these folks warm. I've updated our cool ticker counters for each hats, mittens, and scarfs.

More wonderful items to warm those in need!

crocheted hats and scarves
Thanks bunches and bunches Sandie for fabulous hats (#156-157-158) and scarf (#79) to help warm those in need and help us get closer and closer to our goals.

I see what you mean about the color and the pictures though. There are what I would call purple...and the pictures do make them look blue on your page. Don't know if they show up more true to color here or not? Funny sometimes that happens.

I've already added them to the bag that I gave my SIL yesterday, so they are alrady in route to those in need.

Folks, all you've donated have been so greatly appreciated. I've been so busy at the hospital I've not had a chance to get around and visit, sorry; but please don't think you're forgotten. You aren't!

HUGS to all, please keep those hooks and needles flying. We still have cold here in Central Ohio and these folks are still very much in need.

More Socks! Yippee!!!!

socks
7 more pairs of socks to warm feet for those men living under the bridge. Hugs a bunch Dear Scarlet. I'm still trying to catch up here with pictures and counting etc. Things do seem (toes and fingers still crossed) to be calming down in The ICU.

I've got a bag here of goodies to pass along to my SIL today so she can get needed items to Rae for our homeless folks.

And what a neat surprise from Scarlet. I had completely forgotten I even responded to her fun contest regarding the cute face and what to do with her head. She bestoyed 2 great skeins of yarn on me in the same package as the socks! I've tossed it in my hospital bag and already made a pair of booties with it, and am working on a hat to match. Thanks bunches Scarlet. I've used this yarn before and really love the blues...very nice!yarn

Hats and Mitts!

knitted hats and mittens
Two Darling little hats for the kiddo's at the free clinic and a pair of mittens. Thank you so much SunnieFairy. They are so needed and very much appreciated. Are your hats done on a loom? I thought sometime back you told me you used one? Very very nice.

Hats #154 & 155, AND mitts # 34

Still pretty nippy here folks, below freezing most of time, hats, mittens, and scarfs still very much needed.

Thanks for all your help.

Mini update

crocheted hats and scarves
A quick update before heading back to the hospital. As always Sandie's work is super! 2 fabulous hats and a scarf to help these homeless warm.

Not one of my better pictures, sorry folks took it quickly last night after I got home from the hospital before going to bed.

Got another nice bag to pass along to Rae. Will connect up with SIL tomorrow or the next day with this latest donation.

Though we do have a few mini signs of spring...they will not last and winter will return here. It always does. So please keep those hooks and needles working and donate what you can.
Looks like even Stella was tired, laying her head on the pillows! Hats #152 and 153, and scarf #78
Would love to hit our goal of 100 scarfs which is only....22 scarfs away.
**I managed to get to the bank today on my way to the hospital and exchanged the English pounds into American currency and am hopeful I can get out shopping in the next or so to pick up some more socks for men under the bridge.

Some more Scarfs, made in ICU

knitted scarves
crocheted scarf
These are 3 scarfs I've made while sitting in ICU, (ICU info here regarding Mom). Scarfs #75-76-77

The 2 reddish colored scarfs are both knitted. One is red and grey, though the grey doesn't show up well in the picture. The 2nd one is more reddish-orange. I intended these to go to the free clinic for the women/teens. One is a mohair blend the other light and lofty.

The brown one is nice and big, both wide and long; suitable for men and is crocheted.

Will try to do another update tomorrow, as I have more to photograph and post. It's time to get ready to head back to the hospital, again.

I needed a diversion of something more pleasant the other day and did an update on my travel blog, please stop in for a visit.

Still Counting

crochet hat,scarf
It was bitter cold again today here in Central Ohio. Believe it was 3 when I first woke up with a wind chill maker it even colder. Thankfully I have more warm items to count and donate. Many many thanks going out to Sandie for Hat #159, and Scarfs # 73 & 74. As always Sandie's work in flawless. I passed a bag along just 2 days ago to my SIL to pass along to Rae and am working on another one here to get to her as soon as possible.

Keep those hooks and needles flying folks, hats, mittens, scarfs are still very much needed. Also am still collecting socks. Am hopeful I'll get time away from the hospital enough tomorrow to get out and purchased socks from our last 2 monetary donations.

Will be heading back to the hospital shortly (more information on my regular blog here)

Thanks for the continued support of this program, and many thanks for the good wishes and prayers many of you have sent my way.

Help with Socks, Counting more goodies!

English note

English note

crocheted hat, knitted scarf

First...a reminder to ask that each heartfelt donation be accompanied with a note telling me who you are. Packages come with real names, most of you use internet names/screen names etc. here on blogger, on Rav. etc. I need to know who you are in cyberworld in order match you up with your real names. Still looking for a Sarah from Hawaii and Joanne from California. Please see 2 previous post for their donations. If you know who these caring ladies are, please let me know so I can properly thank them.
---------
Showing the front and back of an Enlgish Bank Note that came from a caring man named Bill; whom I know from blogging a bit over on Multiply. I think it's cool how different the money looks from other countries. This will go for socks as soon as I can get out shopping. (my mom's in ICU after an emergency surgery and so my time is not my own...thus my delay in making updates here as well).

Thanks go out to Sandie for another of her wonderful creations...Hat #150

And Jenny (Wren on RAV), all the way from Scotland. Scarf #72

Sandie's hat is crocheted and Jenny's scarf is knitted...I would love to know how you made the scarf Jenny, I've never seen the stitches run that way and am most interested to learn how you did that.

I'll try to get another round of pictures taken later. Need to get to the hospital.

YIPPEE!!!!

knitted scarves and money
We are making headway folks on all fronts. A nice card with $$ to purchase socks came while I was out of town from Cowgirl (Chris). I think I'll be able to get another dozen socks with this. Many thanks!

And a package has been sitting at the post office (insufficient postage, it wasn't lost; but apparently the notice telling me to pick it up was). Sarah, I'm not sure who you are here on the net; Sarah from Hawaii, lots of thanks for the 2 scarfs. Both are knitted. These are scarfs #66 and 67

Sing out if you're Sarah or know who she is, I like to make sure I know who's who.

Keep those hooks and needles flying.

It's still quite cold here much is still needed.
**I should add, unpacking and doing laundry today but plan to go shopping tomorrow for the socks!

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
