Donations from Otterbein's Stitches to Share

This wonderful donation comes from many hands.  A group called Stitches to Share at Otterbein College in Westerville knitted, crocheted and collected this donation.  Students, and faculty gather in library on campus to knit and crochet for charity.  They spread their donations out among lots of different charities.  They teach folks to knit and crochet as well, so even if you think you can't help...they bridge that gap by teaching their crafts to others.  In addition they often have donated yarn they share with those wanting to join in.

I meant Penny S at an agreed upon location to collect this donation from her.  I appreciated her suggestion to meet up, it saved me from driving there.  Plus, it's always nice to meet like minded people.

Many thanks Penny and Stitches to Share for this thoughtful donation.  Please keep up the good work!

The Final Stages of Blue Horizon

Am about half way through the final section of Blue Horizon, think when I counted I have about 20 more rows to knit then do the long binding off.  Binding off afghans always seems to take forever, so many stitches on the needles.  Then will get this afghan laundered and blocked...and continue on with the other 2 I've been working on.

Crocheted Afghans for Homeless Families Foundation

Love these colors together.  This afghan made by our good friend Cheryl S is suitable for anyone and everyone.  It's large enough  for a family, it suitable colorwise for Man or Women, or Teen.  Lots of colors, looks fall-ish to me.  Remember folks you can always click on pictures to enlarge them here on the blog to see things better or in more detail.  I always encourage you to do that.
Another wonderful afghan crocheted by Cheryl which will be donated to Homeless Families Foundation.  Shells stitches on the diagonal here, very interesting.

Cheryl's been very busy, so please continue to checkin..............there's more, you don't want to miss seeing the rest.

As always Cheryl, we so appreciate your support and your generous skillful crochet hook!

Crocheted Hat from The United Kingdom

Thank you Julie T. from across the big pond (United Kingdom) for this thoughtful donation.  This hat is nice and stretching and will work for a variety of head sizes which is awesome.  I love that it's a nice color suitable for either a Man or Woman.  Thank you also Julie for tagging the hat with the size, that is so helpful to me as I separate donations for where they will end up and likewise for the various volunteers at the shelters.

How truly sweet of you to offer your help for Ohio's Homeless all the way from England!

Hope to see you here often on Bridge and Beyond.

The Unknown Soldier Could be Homeless

This comic is definitely food for thought.   This is so sadly true.  A very large percentage of homeless across our country are in fact Veterans that we owe a great deal to.  We owe more than a life on the street wondering if they'll survive a cold night or extreme summer temperatures and dehydration.  And while some headway is being made thanks to our First Lady Michele Obama's Major's programs,
to house the homeless Veterans, much work is still needed.

Posts you might have missed discussing the homeless Veterans problems
Marine Corp Jerry's Freezing Death
Or Marine Murdough's sad Death here

Clearly show that.

Please keep your yarn at hand and hooks and needles busy.

Sorry Lola

Last night was the end of the month long yarn bombing Lola style contest and the winner was to be announced today.  There is no winner to announce, as there were no participants I'm sad to report.  I had hoped we'd have some fun pictures to look at, but apparently it just wasn't what people were interested in doing.

Sorry Lola.

Pop in tomorrow and check out what's happening, and remember even when you can't knit or crochet due to time constraints or lack of knowing how, you can still help Bridge and Beyond by visiting and leaving comments.  Please let us know you were here.

Thank you.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
