Hats Hats and Hats from Uganda

Sorry this picture turned out a bit blurring.  Before you you see 57 crocheted hats from ladies in Uganda.  Yes, please read that again.  Crocheted hats from ladies in Gulu Uganda.  These hats were donated by KrochetKids International.  KrochetKids International has a motto, buy a hat and change a life.  A couple of young men while on a trip decided they needed to do something to help people in this region.  They taught 10 women to crochet.  These woman were then able to earn money for their families.  The hats they made were and continue to be sold here in the United States.  Nordstroms is one place I found that sells the hats.  I've seen them listed on eBay as well as on the KrochetKids International webpage

More and more people were taught to crochet and hats sells have continued to support these families.  The project was also initiated in Peru and currently there are plans to initiate the project here in the United States.

Hat styles are changed seasonally to have fun fresh looks and presumably to help sales.  Hats are named after the person who designs them, I believe most of the hats pictured are called Thomas Hats (the ones with ear tabs and ties), the others are Betty hats (basic cap style).  If you click to enlarge the picture you'll see their logo sewn onto the hats which is 2 K's.  Their blog and webpage indicate the name of the person making the hat is put on a label and sewn into the hat.  I think most of these hats have a number with the KK label that perhaps indicates who made them.   They had items in the warehouse they wanted to pass on, and so contacted me to ask if we could accept a donation and put it to good use.  My answer, an excited...INDEED!

I've added links above to first their facebook page, and secondly to their blog, please feel free to check out the program.

Thank you KrochetKids International for this thoughtful donation, and best of luck to you with your wonderful projects.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
