Found another little bit of humor for us knitters and crocheters.  Thought you all would enjoy this.

Also wanted to say Sue S from Michigan one of 4 winners (3 of the 4 have checked in), deadline to check is midnight tonight.

Sue's been knitting and donating to our cause, homeless in Ohio for a couple of years.  She's gone through a move and continued to support us with her lovely creations.  In addition to her donations of knitted warmth, she participates frequently here on the blog by reading, commenting and cheering on our fellow helpers.  We really appreciate all your efforts Sue, and are so glad you found us.

Ohio's Homeless Appreciate Marjorie M. from Minnesota.

Believe I've posted this cute cartoon before, but I know not everyone visits the blog daily, (though I'd love it if they did); so thought it was worth a 2nd posting.

We recently had a contest and Marjorie M. from Minnesota was one of the 4 winners.  To date, I've only heard back from 3 of the 4 winners.  Will give a few more days to hear back from the 4th winner.  I thought it might be nice to learn a little bit about each other, so wanted to share.  Marjorie is a crocheter...must look for a crochet cartoon sometime...she started donating to our cause, keeping Ohio's homeless warmer and safer back in the fall of 2012.  She's helped us in a variety of ways.  She crochets and donates, she's recruited additional pairs of helping hands by getting a Girl Scout Troop involved, and snagged her sister, Kari S from Wisconsin as well.  Additionally, she is extremely supportive with her visits to the blog, spending time reading and commenting and is a fabulous cheerleader always with something thoughtful to say about her fellow crocheters and knitters and others who support our cause.

Thank you Marjorie!  Please keep up the good work, and I hope you enjoy the little comic.

Contest Winners

This beautiful white rose is to say Thank you to the 26 people who left comments from March 23rd til yesterday April 13th to help us celebrate our 1,000 post!  Yesterday, we hit the mark.  That's quite a milestone.  Thank you to all who visit, who comment, who knit and crochet to keep this blog going so long.

During that time we had a total of 162 comments.  That's awesome, though I do still wish we could convince some of more shy folks to leave comments.  It is so helpful to the blog.  You do not need to be a blogger to leave comments.  It's quick and easy.  Simply type your comment, click the drop down box and leave your name and in the space that says url...leave that blank, hit ok or publish and thats all there is to it.

Thank you:

THANKS TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED WITH KNITTING AND CROCHETING AND DONATING, THANKS TO ALL WHO DONATED THE HIGHLIGHTED NEEDED ITEMS OF SCARVES AND OR SLIPPERS, AND THANKS TO OUR CHEERING SECTION OF CHATTERS. I continue to encourage all of you to visit, to chat. There are many of you, we never hear from here on the blog. Remember you do not need to be a blogger to leave a comment. Comments are nice, they show support for each other's skillful work, comments are helpful to the blog with regard to it's SEO (search engine optimization). Placing well in the SEO makes us easier to find for folks looking for some place worthy to donate their knitted and or crocheted items too. If you are not a blogger, type your comment, then click the drop down box that says name and url, type your name...first name and last initial is all that's necessary and leave the url space blank. Then click publish....quick and easy.

As I wait to here from our 3 winner, Bonnie B, Wendy H, and SSegar....I'll be looking through my stash and picking out some goods to get ready to mail.

**Reasons to launder your items: Yarn sits on shelves in stores collecting dust. Yarn gets stored in our various containers...our stash areas, collects dust, sometimes get musty. Yarn picks up smoke and other aroma's from the house like food and perfume. Yarn attracts furry friends, their hair, and their dander. Yarn picks up oils from our crafty hands as we knit and crochet. And, yarn needs to rest, laundering your items, blocking if need be improves the appearance as well as the freshness of your thoughtful donation. It's not possible for me to launder ever item that comes my way; though I do sometimes need to do that when I open boxes etc. All the afghans I make from your donated squares get laundered and blocked, which also helps me make sure things stay put together. Sometimes squares need a bit more attention in terms of tails being appropriately secured. Please avoid spraying your donations with perfume, air-freshner, and or Fabreeze, it really doesn't replace the benefits of it being laundered. I generally wash the afghans in cold water, on delicate, and lay out to dry/block. Even though most of the yarn says washable and dry-able. I find these gives a good result over the long haul.**

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
