In my previous post you'll see the numbers from the last 6 years, the averages, as well as our % of goal reached in 2018.  Goal being the average of the last 5 years.

This graphic shows our previous average (the 5 year average), the percent of the goal we reached for 2018, the total number of each item collected in the last 6 years, and the new average.  You can see the average has gone down in each category with the exception of the afghans which stayed constant.  Technically we were a strange 35 point something but I think saying 35 is fine, and easier to deal with, lol.

Reviewing last year, I realized I made 8 afghans, so I will endeavor to make more than 8 for the coming year.  Last year I made, Crocheted Eclectic Afghan, Orange Julius, Mountain Sky, Blanket of Many Colors, Learning Logs, Jeweled Lines, Earth and Sky, and Cardiac Collage.

Hopefully, by the time you read this post, our goals ...the graphs here on the blog will have been updated to reflect the 6th year averages...the number being our goal for the year of 2019.

Currently working on this one.
Barely started.  It's a ripple, a knitted one.  I've not made a true knitted ripple before.  I have made a feather and fan style which falls into the category of ripples, but this is a bit different.  Click to enlarge so you can see the detail from going from garter stitch for the border to the purl patterned stitches.  Current thinking is stripping it with both the blue and the brown variegated.  Trying to use up some stash.  Maybe...a 3rd color?  Since this is scheduled, as all posts typically are; but the time you read this post....I hope to have completed more.

I just tested this light.  You ware it on your neck.  The light is very helpful on dark cloudy days, or at night when you're forced to try and see dark colors by the light of lamps.  It's a Minger Light.  Suggested by our friend, Sandie P who's been such a long time supporter of Bridge and Beyond.  I add my recommendation to hers if anyone has trouble seeing yarn at night.

Afghan without a Name, Traveling Stripes?

If you've been to this blog before, you probably know I name afghans I'm working on.  They generally are afghans I'm putting together with donated squares, though sometimes there are ghans I'm knitting or crocheting.  You also probably know I've been out of town for several weeks.  Usually yarn and projects is the first thing I can pack for a trip and give the most thought to.  This year, things were kinda chaotic...so a short while before leaving the house I darted to the basement and grapbed 5 large skeins of yarn I though would go together to make a ghan, and stripes seemed to be a pretty straight way to work easily in the car; as well as something that didn't require lots of counting during the trip.  So this striped ghan of blue, green, gray, pink, and goldish tan is in the works.  Some variety in texture in that I basically alternating knitting with stockinette stitch.   I'm also adding a little slip stitch color work to break up just solids stripes.

But....I've not come up with a name for this one.  Anyone have any ideas?  I would say it's about 1/3rd done.  Amazing how long even a row takes.  Cast on 167 stitches.  Miscounted actually wanted 165, but decided to leave it be rather than do that long cast on again.

Do you knit or crochet when you're in the car?  Do you take yarn and projects along on vacations?  The funny thing is, I always do; but still manage to visit the yarn shop while traveling if I can find one.  AND of course there's always some yarn that wants to come home with me.  Stay tuned for that.  I'll snap a picture to show you what adopted me on this last trip, lol.

Tell us what you're working on, and thank you all for your on going support of Bridge and Beyond.  Let's all do what we can to warm those in need.

Nameless Afghan Designed for Homeless Families Foundation

Help, I need a name for this afghan.  I couldn't come up with anything when I designed it.  It's red, tan, and black and has a real mix of shapes and sizes of squares; as well styles.  Some are sampler squares/rectangles, some are crocheted granny, some are knitted.  I think tan is needed to join and assemble ...does that help anyone with an idea for a name?

**ANNOUNCEMENT: Until further notice we will stop collecting plastic bags, and kitchen containers.  We're nicely stocked up on those items for Rae's feeding the hungry ministry.  Thank you to all who've helped.  We will continue to collect plastic silver ware for the same cause for a while longer, so please stay tuned.**

Help me Name This Afghan, Vote

This one is in the works.  The strips have been edged and they're almost all crocheted together.  When Darling Daughter and I played around with these strips from Katie J we came up with several possible names.  Primrose, Dusty Petuna and couldn't decide which name we liked best.  As I've been working on it, I also thought of Desert Rose.  **edited to add Dorothy's suggestion of Rambling Rose.  Great, now we've got 4 names to pick from, lol.    Need to finish hooking it together, and add as many rows as I can with my stash appropriate colors in order to add some width.

This soon to be named ghan has traveled just like Arapaho through several states.  Hoping to get it finished in time to launder and block along with Arapaho.

Please add your thoughts regarding the best name for this afghan.  Like the others it will be donated to Homeless Families Foundation.

Still time left in January folks to make slippers.  I've added a nice link to a sizing chart a new member Trisi found for us.  Check it out in the slippers tab.

**If you've not had a chance to read goals, changes for 2013, and final numbers for 2012....please scroll back.  Thank You**

**Edited to say believe it's going to be named Desert Rose.  Got 4 votes for that and 3 for Rambling Rose in comments below.**

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
