Pine Ridge Reservation in Need of Warm Afghans

Afghans for Pine Ridge is a group of Ravelry.  Pine Ridge Reservation is a very poor area in need.  This group focus is on afghans.

There are several means of helping this group.  If you're making a full afghan (knit or crocheted) you can mail directly to:

c/o Kimberly Black Elk
P.O. Box 5054
Pine Ridge, SD  57770

If you'd like to make squares (6 inch, 8 inch or 12 inch) to be assembled into afghans, I encourage you to join the RAV group, CLICK HERE
They have several members who assemble the squares, and mail them onto the Reservation.  The ladies who assembled them can change from time to time, so it's best to join the group to know who the assemblers are and obtain their mailing addresses.  It's also helpful, though not required to add some stamps with your squares to aid with the mailing costs of the completed afghans to Pine Ridge.

SpanishRose is a member and currently one of the assemblers who can be reached via this email: otimmons411@gmail.com.

During the current month, I have been participating in a fundraiser/walk for The American Indian College Fund.
The goal was to walk 35 miles and I'm well over that at 62 miles and in need of recording the last couple of days.  I was able to raise my goal for fundraising from 200-350 to 500.  So it seemed appropriate to post about the needs of Pine Ridge Reservation.  Prior to starting Bridge and Beyond, I was an active member of the RAV group.

Please continue to check in, as I will continue to post information about charities you may wish to support when Bridge and Beyond ceases operations.

  1. I donate scarves, hats, wash/dishcloths to For the Children of Pine Ridge thru Ravelry. They are a great group also.

    1. That must be a different RAV group? This one is only afghans and squares from what I can see.

PLEASE leave your name and url, NOT a profile link, not a google or google plus. Only name and url will take me directly to your blog to return the favor of a comment.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
