Knitting Stripped Afghan for Homeless

I started this ghan awhile back while out of town and have been chipping away adding stripes here and there in between working on Pink Persuasion which is now finished.  This is straight garter stitch, nothing fancy in the stitch work, but I do love this color combination.  You might remember some time back this yarn was donated by our good friend and long time supporter, Gail B.    This will no doubt be a long term project, though I have made headway since the last time I photographed it on Sandy's Space.  It's now 15 inches.

Do you typically have multiple projects going on at one time?  I do usually.  Partially because with something like this ghan which takes awhile, it's easy to tire of working on the same thing...so it's nice to switch off and on.  Sometimes I feel like knitting, and sometimes I feel like crocheting.  Sometimes I need smaller projects to tote with me,  and work on the larger projects at home.  Sometimes the projects you're working on can't be done in the middle of chaos, so an easier project is needed.  And sometimes...........the yarn simply calls your name and you find you have to start another project, because we all know, we often are not in charge of our stash.

What are you all working on?  Please tell us in your comments below.

    1. Thanks for the visit and comment Rosemarie, both are appreciated. I think I'm using size 9 needles, with a long cord 42? I cast on 210. By the way, I'm really get lots of use out of the wrist warmers you made me. It's been so cool I wear them in the mornings while waiting for the house to warm up...Hugs

  3. The afghan is looking good! I always have a few projects going at the same time. I have at work a dish/wash cloth (another brown one for you). Then at home, I have 2 scarves and a dish/wash cloth in the works. I just depends on what I am watching on TV or reading on the internet, what I am working at.

  5. Yeah! I finally did it! I love the afghan you are working on, Sandy! It is beautiful and I am sure the person who receives it will be delighted! I am currently working on two projects. A pair of socks for myself.....a real treat, and a prayer shawl for my church. I am almost done with both so then I will put more mittens and hats on my needles! Keep your hooks and needles flying ladies!

    1. Awesome work Sally, the prayer shawl I know will be well received. You do such lovely work and you're so kind and caring you deserve to make yourself a pair of socks.

    1. I too love seeing the comments and am hopeful we'll be able to get more, like we used to SSeger. People still read, and there are some who read faithfully, but try as I have I've not convinced them to not be afraid to post a comment. Then you add to that, whatever blogspot did with their settings that has screwed up the captcha thing and it's really hurt us.

  8. The afghan is beautiful Sandy. I love just doing the plain garter stitch. What length circular needle do you use?

I am working on taking off the border of a Crochet Cabana Cross Shawl and adding another row of Crosses. I also am working on a corner to corner dishcloth (my favorite) and I belong to a group in which we are doing a Crochet A Long, one square a week. I am 3 weeks behind so I am catching up on that.

Sandy, I am having a change of heart on what charity I want to donate to. I started with yours and I feel a need to come back to yours. I may not donate that often but during our severe cold air I found such a fear for the homeless and what they were going through. Even if I donate only once a year a large donation or when I get a blanket done I want it to be towards your cause.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
