Warming Homeless Head to Toe

Thank you Yvonne for this thoughtful donation of personal care items, socks, and knitted hats.  Special thanks too for tagging your hats with size.  I encourage everyone to please do that.  Yvonne could you pass along the hat pattern you used?  Would love to add this knitted hat pattern to our hat tab.  It's shaped so nicely and I love that it has a brim, and the texture shows up so well between the brim and the rest of the hat.  Cute cute decoration also on the orange hat.

Yvonne has donated socks which as I sit here in the house with a fleece on and cold feet am reminded what an awesome and necessary item socks are.  Clean dry socks aren't easy to come by when you're living in the elements, or even in shelters where you're spending days outside before you're able to get a cot for the night.d

Many thanks Yvonne, please keep up the good work.

Looking back to this date last year, we had collected and donated 235 pairs of socks, which is 134 more then our current number.  Socks are an item anyone can donate, you don't have to be a knitter or a crocheter to donate socks.  If I could ask each of you to tell 2 people, be they friends, neighbors, co-workers, or family members about the need for socks in an effort to boast these numbers and to help spread the word about the need to non-yarn people.  Many people like to help others, some just don't know how and need to be invited to participate.

**edited to add this information regarding the pattern from Yvonne.  I'll be adding the link to the hat tab as well so hopefully, with it being in multiple places those looking for a good hat pattern will see it.**

Astronomically Awesome Hat by Caroline Kobetitsch and it is free pattern from Ravelry. It's pretty easy and quick to knit. I will adjust the needle size and length if I want a larger or smaller hat but I am not too precise since there is a wide variety of head sizes!

**Reminder to please remove hair (both human and furry friends), odors (from smoke or pets, cooking etc) from your donations.  Since all items require washable fibers, laundering your items before mailing is very helpful.  Laundering not only removes the hair and odors, it softens the fibers and gives a more finished look to all items.**

All donations regardless of size and number are valued. All donations are appreciated. The Power of One is awesome, and when we work together The Power of One becomes The Power of Many.

  1. Beautiful generous donation Yvonne. They are all much needed things by people who cannot afford to purchase their own. And the hats are lovely. I am assuming childrens sizes but would be good for anyone. Thank you so much for helping the homeless. They are definitely in our thoughts nd prayers at this time of year, and you have gone beyond and made it happen. Thank you.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
