Homeless Families Need YOUR Help All Year Long

Saw this cute cartoon/graphic the other day on Facebook and just had to share it with you all.  Thought  you'd enjoy it as much as I did.  Though it shows knitting needles, hope my crochet friends enjoy it too.

Folks, it's finally getting warm more  then a day at a time here in Central Ohio, but that doesn't mean we stop knitting, crocheting, looming, quilting or donating.  The process continues all year long because the problem continues all year long.  We continue making deliveries to the shelters until such time they run out of storage....then I store it to be ready  as soon as there's a possibility of cold weather hitting come fall.  Additionally, families  come into the system, and transition from shelter living into their  permanent housing situtations on a daily basis, so our afghans are donated and used ALL YEAR LONG.

Keep up the good work with your yarn.  PLEASE, if you've not been visiting, reading and commenting frequently double your efforts...it truly is helpful.  AND remember even when you're busy you can help....you can blog,  tweet, Facebook, email, and chat with folks about what we do and how great the need is.

Recruit Help...do you know someone at church, school, your sons baseball team that is kind hearted.....have you told them about the group?  Have you joined our FACEBOOK  group?

2013 Donations:

Hats:  361
Scarves: 276

All donations regardless of size and number are valued. All donations are appreciated. The Power of One is awesome, and when we work together The Power of One becomes The Power of Many.

Thanks for the cute cartoon and the reminder. I am sure, my self included, that many of us think when the cold days are gone so is the need. Will do what I can to help and I will try to get others to do the same. Thank you for all you do Sandy. God Bless

  2. Thank you Marjorie for your thoughtfulness. Yes the need continues, perhaps in a slightly different way. This morning though it's very cool, damp, and foggy enough that schools are on a delay. For those living outdoors, getting a night in a shelter, sleeping in doorways, it's still not pleasant.

  3. So glad I have the ability and love of knitting. I will continue to use it to help those in need! Heaven knows my family dosen't need anymore hats or mittens........but those in need still do!!! YEAH! A reason to keep my needles clicking!

  4. Thank you Sandy for sending out the reminders to everyone. It is a good habit to have. Yes, people like to get out and about for the spring and sumnmer, but even how slow I am I take my work with me. You are a dedicated leader and I admire you!

  5. Thanks for sharing the cartoon. I had to give up on the blanket I was making last night. I got to hot! So I started a hat. I am hoping to get a few made here in May, so I can send them with a few scarves.

  6. Thanks Sally, Sherry, and SSeger for your visits. Understand the blanket thing SSeger, I often work with it off to the side vs on my lap except the exact spot I'm working on. I've seen some folks put the ghan on a table and work so that it's not on them. It's not real comfortable for me, but might work for you.

PLEASE leave your name and url, NOT a profile link, not a google or google plus. Only name and url will take me directly to your blog to return the favor of a comment.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
