Helping Kids in Need Buy School Books

I've posted before about the need for text book for kids without. I earn amazon gift cards from converting points through Superpoints. Some of you joined me on Superpoints. Thank you to those who've joined and do their daily spins on the lucky wheel. It may not seem like much, but it does help. When you spin and win, either my Darling Daughter also wins, or I do. Depending on which one of us you joined under. In both cases those those winning spins earn points which earn Amazon Gift Cards and help towards the purchase of a books like you see Linkabove. This group of books was for 1 student and even used cost in excess of $700.00, but we were able to help with that cost. To date I've earned $100.00 using Superpoints, and DD has earned 70.00 ish. The need continues and so we continue. We spin daily, we do surveys, we watch video's, and sometimes we've bought Groupons through Superpoints and get awesome deals for an evening out at a reduced cost AND get Superpoints! I blogged about a night out at Huntington Park Here. Check it out.

Additionally, both my Darling Daughter and I have joined Swag Bucks. We don't spin there, but we do watch video's, play games, do surveys and other similar things. What earns swag bucks there collectively is doing searches. You can can use Swag Bucks as your search engine and win Swag Bucks, you can add the Swag Bucks Tool bar. Both methods work well and earn you extra Swag Bucks. Once again, those Swag Bucks are being converted into Amazon Gift Cards and those too are helping with the purchase of books for kids in need.

Join one or both, you can help the cause...........AND earn gift cards you can use for your own family. Both Superpoints and Swag Bucks have excellent coupons you can clip and print, and or attach to your local grocery loyalty card to save you and your family money. Both are easy to and quick to join. I'm happy to help you get started, so if you join....sing out. If you've already joined to help the cause...many thanks!

Pop back tomorrow....and everyday to see the wonderful items good folks like yourself knit and crochet and donate to those who need our help.

You don't need to be a knitter or a crocheter to help by joining either Superpoints or Swag Bucks.

Squares donated from Texas

These squares of various sizes and colors are knitted and donated by a Linda J. from San Antonio. I've not been able to make contact after searching long and hard through emails, facebook and other places. Have posted multiple times in hopes of obtaining your email addy. So, if you're out there, please make contact. I've tucked these squares away; they will be used; but as I'm concentrating on squares the same size (size and color and times to mail detailed in the squares tab), not for awhile.
These squares also from Linda J. are wool (thank you for including that note). Over time I've gotten a few wool squares and have kept them separate as the afghans donated are best made from washable acryclic/wool. Don't want to mix them up...that would be a problem for our folks when they try to laundered them to have some squares washable and others not.

Folks, I don't want to appear UN-gracious about donations; but please please put a note in your box so I can make contact. Many of you don't have your names in your emails so trying to search through emails is very labor intensive and time consuming. Likewise, every item we request has a tab, hat, mittens, scarves, squares, afghans, etc. In each tab are requirements for size and colors and yarn types. I really need to ask you all to read those before you mail donations, before you take time to make something. We want to be sure our items are well received.

If you have something you wish to donate that is not hand knit or crocheted, doesn't meet the guidelines in terms of colors or size etc. PLEASE make contact with me so we can chat about it. It saves you time, me time, and time at the receiving end of the large numbers of places we donate to.

Thanks!

Thank You Wendy for your Dedication

Thank you Wendy for your dedication and on going support of our cause. Look at his wonderful donation from Wendy's crochet hook. 3 hats, 3 scarves, and 4 awesome cotton washcloths. All items are so very much appreciated. I'm particularly fond of the greyish-pinkish washcloth. Isn't that an interesting blend? You just never know what variegated yarns are going to look like and it's always fun to see the end result.

We've had some cool nights already here in Central Ohio. I dread even thinking about. Nights where we've added a blanket to the bed already. When you're living outdoors or in shelters you're comfort is so subject to the weather. This reminds me how important it is for us to keep our hooks and needles busy all year long and keep our shelters well stocked so as soon as the weather turns...they are prepared to help those who need help.

Thank you all for thoughtfulness.

Donating Love

Wonderful hats and scarves from our friend Gail B. I say she (and all you who participate) donate love. It takes of your fellow man to spend money buying yarn, spend time knitting or crochet, to spend money on postage to send off your creations to someone you don't know. That's love for certain. I'm so grateful for so many of you. Gail has been a long time supporter of Bridge and Beyond, we're grateful to have her with us, sharing her love.
Hats and scarves....an a wonderful big warm afghan. This naturally will be donated to The Homeless Families Foundation for our project welcome home.

Many thanks for your thoughtful donation, please keep up the good work.

Do check in folks tomorrow folks. I want to tell you about the books project.

Growing Up, Summer Squares

Apparently I neglected to post a date when this was scheduled to be posted a few days ago, hence it's delay. These are the squares, growing up a bit you saw in the previous post from our friend Diana K. I've named this one summer squares and am edging in a light variegated of tans and off white. Thus far...it just looks like off white. There are 35 squares in all.

Stay tuned, hoping to have it done soon.

When I Grow Up

**just realized the picture didn't show with this post, sorry folks, did an edit and here are the squares.**

When I grow up, I gonna be............a blanket, an afghan, a warm snuggly afghan blanket. These squares all 46 of them come from our good friend, Diana K. When I was taking them out of the box, they were very busy chatting and bonding with one another, discussing what they were going to be when they grew up. lol

And why not? Most of us feel our yarn talks to us, so why not squares? Stay tuned to see what they become on down the road.

Thank you Diana K, you're awesome.

Hats and Scarves Fabulous Donation

Looks at these wonderful hats and scarves, sets and separates. So nicely made. I love the size of your scarves Diana, nice and long and wide that makes them so much warmer for folks. Great adult and or teen sizing.

Many thanks Diana for your thoughtful donation and your on going support. Both are truly appreciated. Great color selection too! Lots of folks will be warmed with this donation. Keep up the good work.

Diana hails from the state of Georgia, not much of a need for warm hats and scarves down south. Thrilled you're using your talents to help us up north!

Excitement for Bridge and Beyond

The above is a picture of a just released new book about crocheting, the healing benefits of it. A fellow blogger, Kathryn Vercillo is the author. She writes a blog, Crochet Concupiscence, that I highly recommend you visit. Please notice she's been added to the blog log here on Bridge and Beyond. (the picture of the book is a live link and will take you to the amazon page where you can order it and read a bit more about the book and Kathryn)

The excitement I wanted to share with you all today is she has listed Bridge and Beyond in her book in the resource section. How cool is that! Naturally I appreciate this, as it gets the word out about what we all do here together as a team. The knitting and crocheting, and the caring that goes on...day after day, stitch after stitch.

I was surprised, and thrilled when she informed me she listed Bridge and Beyond
in her book. What a sweet and thoughtful thing to do. And so, I hope you all pop over and visit her on her blog and add the book to your shopping list. It's not yet in local book stores, but is available on line through Amazon....which is awesome, we can order sitting here in the comfort of our computers chairs, while...we're no doubt crocheting and knitting as we speak, read and write. (to order through amazon click the picture above). AND for you hi-tech Kindle types CLICK HERE

Thank you Kathryn, and best of luck with your book sales.

Helping People

Not one of us can eradicate homelessness. Not one of us can feed all the hungry. Not one of us protect all those in danger. Not one of us can cure all the ills, or educate all those in need. But, together one day at a time, one stitch at a time, one point at a time...WE CAN make an important difference. We can and do warm people in need with our knitting and crocheting. And together with our points from Superpoints, we are helping (though much more is needed) kids in need obtain school text books.

The above school books were delivered to my Daughter, Christine the other day. These were purchased (used) from Amazon with the help of Amazon gift cards obtained from converting points from Superpoints. We're working hard, my Daughter and I to continue to earn Superpoints to convert them to Amazon Gift Cards, so many more books are needed. To give you a feel for difficulty of this task (AND THE NEED to have MORE of YOU JOIN US), the above used Health Text Book cost $42.00. That's one used book for one student. So, please join us. 3 simple quick steps will help
  1. Click any of the highlighted superpoints words above
  2. Fill out your mini registration
  3. Verify your email address, AND complete your mini profile/and or post a photo
That's it! With those 3 easy steps, you've begun to earn points. Spin daily to gain additional points. Do surveys, play games, shop and or clip coupons. When you earn points so do we. So, it's a win win. There are many things you can do with your points for you and your family. Enjoy and please Help us Help those kids!

SPECIAL THANKS TO THOSE WHO'VE ALREADY JOINED AND SPIN DAILY, WE TRULY APPRECIATE EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU. (It's best to open a 2nd email account if you're going to do more then spin...much nicer keeping all your email separated.).

Donations from the State of Tennessee

YIPPEE! Donations from the state of Tennessee from Marie P. Awesome knitted hats. Great colors, soft, so well made...and tagged! I LOVE it, I truly heart it when people tag items with size otherwise I have to and or the volunteers or workers at the various family shelters have to guess sizes. Hats that work well for males and females her in the mix.

And she's donated a couple of pair of socks........always a hit!

Many thanks for your thoughtful donation, it's truly appreciated.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
