Donating warmth and Hope for those in Need

Thank you Sandie in Louisiana for your crocheted scarf, 2 hats, and pair of wrist warmers (fingerless mitts). I keep seeing the fingerless/writs warmer words being used interchangeably. I really don't know if one is more correct. Sandie's work is always so nicely made. You might or might know she took a Master's Class and has taught crochet. AND, she's a published author. She's a mother and a wife..........a very busy lady with a big heart. She's been with us from the beginning and I'm always so appreciative of her donations and her friendship.

Sandie's has patterns on her page and while these hats aren't exactly the ones made from the pattern I have posted here under the hat tab, they are very close. Check it out. Thanks Sandie

2012 Donations:
Hats: 36+2=38
Scarves: 4+1=5
Slippers: 1
Shawls: 2
Misc Items are not counted individually (such as personal care items, headbands, yarn, etc)

Please read all details regarding size, color, stitches in the tabs across the top of the page folks. Thanks.

**Mark your calendars, a yarn give away is approaching! Starting Feb 14th, we're doing another comment contest. Don't miss out. Spread the word about free yarn**

All donations regardless of size and number are valued. All donations are appreciated, and all donations keep someone warm. We help, one stitch at a time. YOU truly DO make a difference. THANK YOU!

  4. Beautiful donations. I have always wondered how warm the wrist warmers are. I have had the urge to make them like so many other things!

  5. Thank you for the nice comments. The mittens were so easy to make. If I can do them, anyone can! LOL The pattern is http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/crochet-lace-fingerless-mitts . I used #3 Moda Dea Sassy Stripes Crayon and a G hook for the mitts. The greenish hat is made with a bulkier yarn, Moda Dea Tweedle Dee Surf and Turf yarn. The red I think is Red Heart. Not sure on that.

  6. Thanks Sandie for adding the info for interested folks. Sherry, I often thought I should make myself a pair to wear indoors. Sometimes when I'm on the computer a long time my hands get really cold.

  7. I didn't know if the fingerless mitts would be good for the homeless but perhaps some of the other places could use them? I was just happy to finish a pair! :-) I don't think that pattern would work with worsted yarn unless you have really big hands as these were a little loose on me, but I have smallish hands (though the rest of me is nowhere near small! LOL)

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
