Helping the Homeless from Crochetville

squares and hats for homelessThank you Liz (minnisoda from the Ville) for your fabulous and thoughtful donation! Liz's skilled hands have helped us many times and her on going support of Ohio's Homeless through her knitting and crocheted donations is very much appreciated. Above you see 34 squares (both knitted and crocheted), 5 hats (one with a matching scarf), toothpaste, shampoo, and deodorant.

**September is Scarf Month, and we're having another contest.
From now until October 8, I'll toss names into a hat for everyone who donates a scarf for a teen or adult...male or female. Feeling like we need to bump those numbers a bit and will draw the winning name from the hat and send out another box of yarn. Contests are fun. We've had several fun, productive, and successful contests. Every scarf donated for a teen or adult (at least 5 inches wide and 5 feet or longer please), will qualify. **

  1. Liz, what a great donation! I especially LOVE the green and yellow square with the flower in the middle! Can't wait to see what Sandy comes up with, with this wonderful bunch of squares! Keep you hook and needles flying!

  3. Great work Liz! There will be some great 'ghans that come from those squares!

Re: Scarves--I have begun working on a scarf using this pattern http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/90198AD.html?noImages= . It is double crochet, so you can see through in-between the stitches and "waffles"; is it too open?

  4. Front post/ backpost stitches are quite thick and the waffle provides like 2 layers. That scarf will be awesome. If however, someone is using DC with a large hook it can be too open to be very warm. Sometimes, you just have to look at it...if it seems to open drop down to a smaller hook. The waffle thought should be fine and dandy.

  5. Lovely donation. I like the fact that Liz has used both her knitting and her crochet skills to give to others!

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
